Gar,
A fabulous trip. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. I would rate this as my 2nd favorite trip after the southwest Ireland tour.
The Old Course was an unforgettable experience, even in the rain for the first 8 holes. The picture in front of the R&A was a nice touch.
We had a little more rain throughout the week than we had hoped for.
Everyone liked making only 1 hotel change. The hotels (especially Turnberry) were great. Our room in Rusacks was a little small, but we got by.
The courses were great: I loved Prestwick, Gleneagles, and Kingsbarn. A little disappointed in Carnoustie – probably because I didn’t pay well. Played Castle and Jubilee in the rain. I am sure The Castle Course would be spectacular in sunshine. Caddies were OK, some good, some not so good. Overall, they were fine.
The restaurants worked out well. The Jigger Inn was a little small for a group of 12, but we managed. Ate one night at a restaurant called Weldings near Turnberry – very good. I liked the Sands Grill at the Old Course Hotel.
Our driver Charles was efficient but not as good as the drivers we had in Ireland! I guess Gar in 2007 and Paul in 2009 spoiled us. Your St. Andrews staff were delightful. Lindsey was our main contact and she was friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed the town of St. Andrews – good place to walk around.
Lots of laughs and good memories throughout the week. Thanks for all your arrangements.
Steve
