FAQ

Can you book our flights?

We do not book air travel but are happy to assist with the options. In recent years we experienced a massive trend of clients using air miles for travel.

While many guest book their air travel online, you should contact your travel agent for the best advice and fares. We are happy to work with and book your trip to Ireland with the assitance of your preferred travel professional.

We have no plans to offer a flight booking service in the near future.

When should we book?

Despite a difficult economy, our services continue to be in high demand. We occasionally experience a backlog of enquiries and do our best to respond to all promptly.

If you would like to book a particular driver guide then book well in advance – 6 to 9 months. For golf travel the further out you book the better the tee times that are available.

Overall advance booking of 6 months is suggested but we have been able to put exceptional trips together with as little as 48 hours notice.

What happens after we enquire?

We will respond to you to acknowledge your enquiry with an email.

Between a combination of phone and email communication we will tailor a proposal for you to review and consider booking. We provide a highly personalized service and it is necessary for us to communicate via phone to ensure we tick all the boxes and deliver your tour to its highest potential.

Can we customize our tour?

Of course you can.  99% of our tours are different in some way.

We will help you make the right choices based on your budget and travel requirements.

We will tailor the tour to your preferences and make sure the interests of all are considered.

What happens after we book?

Your accommodation and transport will be booked immediately following receipt of your deposit.

A final itinerary and invoice will be sent to you – Typically 60 days in advance of travel. Our team will communicate with you via your preferred method – email or phone.

We require a rooming list, flight details, information about special dietary requirements, mobility and any other special needs.

What happens when we arrive?

If you have selected a chauffeur driven option, we will have someone to greet you at the airport and take it from there.

Our directors try as often as possible to personally meet our guests and spend a day or two with each of our escorted tours.

If you are self driving we will have provided a package with instructions for when you arrive including: golf and accommodation vouchers, maps, travel times, places of interest, dining recommendations and general information. Driving is on the left side of the road and anti-drink driving is laws are strictly enforced.

What accommodation options are available?

There are a nice variety of Hotels, Castles, Guesthouses, Farmhouses and Inns available in our select portfolio – Most of which have been personally inspected by our directors. If you want the comfort and amenities of a hotel then you can expect 4 or 5 star standards comparable to the best in the world. Even three star hotels in Ireland are considered among the best in Europe and on a par with most European four stars.

Our quotations for accommodation are based on double/twin occupancy – standard room sharing unless noted otherwise. Accommodation typically includes breakfast and taxes. Please let us know your requirements at the time of booking.

The Weather in Ireland?

Despite the myth that it rains here all the time, we enjoy a temperate climate allowing for touring year round. The peak season for touring travel is March to October.

Ireland is an island so the weather tends to change often giving the weather folks a tough time! Our advice is to bring good rain gear – outerwear, hats and waterproof shoes.

November to April is considered the quieter sides of the season and the weather can be a pleasantly dry, bright and 40-60 degrees for good stretches. For a more immediate outlook go to www.weather.ie

What dress code requirements do the hotels have?

For fine dining it is not always required that you dress up.

There are a small number of places that require a jacket, shirt and tie for the male and smart dress for females (no denim or revealing clothing). Dromoland and Ashford Castle would be examples of such hotels with these requirements.

There are also certain golf clubs where the same dress code is required for dining or socializing in the club.

Do we need travel insurance?

Yes. We suggest you pre-arrange specialized travel insurance.

Links Golf Ireland does not accept responsibility for loss, damage or theft of any belongings, accident or injury, illness or air delays affecting the trip.

See the travel insurance section of our website.

What currency do we need?

Euro is the currency in the Republic of Ireland.

If you are taking the Causeway Trail or playing a custom tour in Northern Ireland then UK Sterling (pounds) would be needed for cash purchases.

Major credit cards are widely accepted in Ireland and Northern Ireland.Click here to check current exchange rates.
