Ashford Castle
Description
Located on the West Coast, this 13th-century, five-star Castle sits on the northern shores of Lough Corrib, ½ hour's drive from Galway City.
The Castle is equidistant from both Ireland West and Galway airports. Once a Country Estate of the Guinness family, it was transformed into a deluxe Hotel in 1939 and now offers 83 luxurious guest rooms.
Activities on the 350 acre woodland Estate include golf, fishing, horse-riding, clay shooting, boat cruises and the ancient art of falconry, whilst Beauty treatment rooms, a sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room are found in the castle.
There are four dining options available at the Castle from timeless classical cuisine in the George V Restaurant, fine dining in the intimate Connaught Room to a snack menu in the Drawing room and an informal Bistro atmosphere in Cullen's at the Cottage.
